Analysis of the social context of the history of medicine and disease in the entire complex of relationships with the ideological attitudes of a particular time has, of course, increasingly attracted the attention of modern researchers. Much has also been written about the influence of religion on a person’s perception of spiritual and physical infirmities. At the same time, the question of how and at what time the ideas about sacred and demonic intervention in the bodily sphere interacted in various Christian cultures at the level of religious institutions and at the level of everyday religious practices remains unresolved to this day and requires specification and reliance on new sources.< /p>
