Such a persistent interest in it was explained by the author’s desire to find a way out of the crisis of spirituality that American society was experiencing in those years. The book convinces readers that attempts at “individual” love are doomed to failure without the ability to love one’s neighbor, without true humanity, faith and self-discipline. Fromm’s “Art of Love” is widely represented on the Internet by L. Chernysheva’s translation, published in Minsk in 1990. The proposed translation belongs to the same Chernysheva and was published in the same 1990 by the Moscow publishing house "Pedagogika". It feels like professionals have worked hard on it.
