“Comrades, we have gathered to honor the memory of A. Blok. When opening the meeting, I would like to say a few words regarding the nature of this celebration. Evenings dedicated to the memory of Blok have been repeated many times. There are various approaches to the deceased poet. Blok as a poet - why not the theme? But, comrades, poetry is an entire planet with its own continents, with its own countries. It is possible to honor Blok as a poet in general, but this is general. Even more unsatisfactory are those forms of celebration that tear the integrity of Blok’s work to pieces. What unites us, the meeting participants, is the attitude towards Blok as a poet - “ours”, the people’s, beloved. We are not some kind of literary, or political, or even ideological organization...”
