On the first day of April 1939 in Wilhelmshaven, the hull of the German battleship Tirpitz slipped off the slipway into the water. The West's largest warship was born. But almost 2 more years passed before it became part of the German fleet. Fate allowed him only 4 years of life, but all this time he had a decisive influence on the naval strategy of the Second World War, which no other ship could boast of. Only once did he have the opportunity to use his main caliber, and then to shell a defenseless port on Spitsbergen. And in the end it capsized and sank under a hail of KVVS bombs.
