This article was written at the end of 1990, but the “wind of change” stopped me from publishing it: it seemed to me that the changes were irreversible, and we had finally left the vicious wandering in a circle onto the “bright path” in a spiral. 1991 and October 1993 confirmed my hopes and only forced me to add to the article reflections on “degenerated victims,” which added even more optimism and a few more comments on the amazing coincidences and parallels in the history of Russia from antiquity to the present day.
