Georgy Karpenko is a Russian traveler, master of sports in tourism, captain of the yacht Urania-2, which in 1999 became the first Russian sailing yacht to reach the shores of Antarctica. The story of this expedition formed the basis of his first book, “Sailing to Antarctica” (2002). Georgy Karpenko’s second book tells about the Arctic ski crossing he made together with Vyacheslav Bystrov in March-April 2003.
