This mini instruction in pictures describes the full cycle of creating an electronic version of a scientific and technical book, and is intended for a person who sincerely wants to make an e-book of acceptable quality, but does not know where to start. So: here is something borrowed from a friend, from libraries, or just a good, interesting book that you would like to have on your computer. And not just have it, but have it in a form that would allow you to search the text, conveniently read the book on a monitor screen or on eBook devices, and if it is not scientific, technical or reference literature, also read it on your favorite cell phone, iPhone 'e or PDA. In this step-by-step guide, based on my own experience, I will try to talk about how to get the most out of the simple, but sometimes very tedious job of scanning a book. Don't be intimidated by the length of this guide and the seeming complexity of scanning and processing a book. The process is indeed quite complex and multi-step, but believe me, describing all these operations was much more difficult than performing them step by step.
