Small in volume, but eventful, the story begins with a listing, it seems, of all the fears of modern man and humanity. Numerous drones and the ability to read everything in a matter of moments, including a person’s innermost and random thoughts; “artificial trees with an aroma “identical to natural”, armed with an antiseptic,” as well as a gradual transition into the virtual world; aggressive migrants, religious fanatics and lawbreakers, after whom “not a trace remained of the noble, educated old Europe” and the Europeans had to emigrate. In general, so much scary stuff is concentrated that it’s no longer completely scary. Dystopia is so dystopian that it is already a parody.
