The Central Committee of the CPSU and the Soviet government adopted a resolution on preparations for the first manned space flight in December 1960. By this time, three launches of Vostok spacecraft had been carried out. Two emergency and one last, successful. It was planned to launch two more full program launches and then launch a man into space. But on October 24, a catastrophe occurred at the cosmodrome during a rocket launch... In this situation, a manned space flight could not be carried out. It has been moved to March-April next year. Naturally, subject to successful control flights. For the astronauts, these events were, of course, a strong psychological shock. Life has clearly shown them what a dangerous and unpredictable task they are preparing for. There were no people who refused to prepare for space flight...
