Biographical information: ZYKOV Yuri Nikolaevich, born 11/15. 1922 in Bryansk in a working-class family. Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Graduated from 10th grade and the flying club. In the Soviet Army since 1940. Graduated from flight school. On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War since August 1942. Deputy squadron commander of the 59th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment (2nd Guards Assault Aviation Division, 16th Air Army, Belorussian Front) Guard, Senior Lieutenant Zykov, carried out 175 successful combat missions, destroyed 18 enemy aircraft at airfields. 02/21/1944 while performing a combat mission near the city of Rogachev (Gomel region) he died. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded posthumously on 1.7.44. Awarded the Order of Lenin, 2 Orders of the Red Banner, Order of Alexander Nevsky, Order of the Patriotic War 2nd degree, medals. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery.
