An autobiographical story by Pyotr Todorovsky (a participant in the war and a famous film director), based on which a television series about the Great Patriotic War “Cadets” was filmed. In the summer of 1943, when the war was in full swing, Pyotr Todorovsky became a cadet at the Saratov Military Infantry School. In 1944, as a platoon commander, he was sent to the front and, as part of the 93rd Infantry Regiment of the 76th Infantry Division of the 47th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front, reached the Elbe along front roads.
