The book “The Way of Water” can rightfully be called Alan Watts’ swan song, his spiritual testament to all those who continue their journey through the picturesque expanses between two eternities - eternity before life and eternity after it. It would seem that if the author does not invite us to change this world, what can he even say - how can he see life in a new way, about which everyone, young and old, knows that it is unpredictable, fleeting and does not always please us? And yet the author finds something to say. Known for his many books (“The Way of Zen” and “The Book of Taboo” are just the first signs in Russian translation), Alan Watts again captivates us with his vivid manner of presentation, the obviousness and elegance of his observations, and their extraordinary depth. With inimitable skill, he returns us to the third, and in fact the only real eternity - to the flow of the present, where every question answers itself, where there are no problems at all. A few months before his departure in November 1973, Alan Watts captured this unique, mystical worldview by reinterpreting the ancient philosophy of Tao. To take a fresh look at life, to return to the origins of the world in the current moment, he says, you really don’t need to change anything - you just need to realize what was said by the Chinese sages thousands of years ago, but is true for any place and any time... And although the book “The Way of Water” remained unfinished, the author managed to say the main thing - and this is the main thing now in front of you, printed in black on white pages.
