Texan Charles Angelo Siringo (1855 - 1928) was a cowboy for fifteen years, served for more than twenty years in the Pinkerton National Detective Agency and was familiar with such frontier legends as Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, Wyatt Earp and Tom Horn. The book "Two Wicked Isms" (1915) is dedicated to the author's years of work at the Pinkerton agency.
