The futurist poet Vasilisk Gnedov (1890–1978) is unknown to readers today; even experts in the history of Russian literary futurism are sure that after 1918 he “moved away from literature.” In 1913, which was the year of the heyday of futurism in Russia, all newspapers wrote about Gnedov, literary critics could not do without his name in their articles, he was much more famous than Mayakovsky.
