This publication publishes articles on topical issues of North American history, beginning with colonial times and including the beginning of the XXI century. The collection brought together scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kursk, Orel, Saransk, Saratov, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Vologda, Ryazan, Krasnodar, as well as colleagues from Belarus (Minsk) and Ukraine (Kiev) . A distinctive feature of the collection is the interaction of specialists in various fields of American studies: historians, philologists, cultural scientists. Special section includes articles by young scientists from Kursk and St. Petersburg. The problems of the articles are of interest for their diversity and scientific significance of the subjects considered in them .. Studies reflect the realities of the domestic and foreign policy life of the United States and Canada in the 18th and 21st centuries. Various articles explore the American labor movement, literature, philosophy, education, historiography, and women's history. Reflected such subjects as the history of domestic and foreign policy, party struggle and the activities of prominent people, the influence of American experience on NEP politics, the Cold War and Russian America, cultural wars, the Academy Award and Shakespeare's "trace" in America. Special attention is paid to the bicentenary of Henry David Thoreau. A number of articles are based on archival materials. In the light of new approaches to the study of history, one should highlight the narrative, discursive approach, gender studies, multidisciplinary approach, achievements of intellectual history. The materials of the collection are designed for American historians, teachers of higher and secondary schools, students, bachelors, masters and graduate students, as well as all those interested in the problems of the history of the United States and Canada.
