In this work, Giorgio Agambena long-term study of the genealogy of power, undertaken in the framework of the Homo sacer project, reaches its conclusion. The author shows that the current dominance of economics and management in all spheres of public life is based on the early Christian paradigm of Trinitarian theology, originally associated with the problems of oikonomia, that is, the way of divine management of the world. It is no coincidence, therefore, that modern power is not only “government” but also “glory,” and the ceremonial, liturgical, and glorified aspects, which we are accustomed to regard as vestiges of the past, in fact to this day form the basis of power in the West. Based on an analysis of liturgical acclamations and ceremonial symbols of powerfrom the throne and crown to the purpura and the lictor beamsAgamben in a new light presents the functioning of consensus and media in modern democracies. This book is intended to fundamentally update our understanding of the relationship between politics and economics. Giorgio Agamben . Kingdom and Glory .
