The works reflect the results of studies on ecology, morphology, systematics of aquatic plants, conducted both in the reservoirs of the Volga, and other water bodies of Russia and abroad. Various aspects of the structure and functioning of the autotrophic link in freshwater ecosystems are considered - diversity and long-term changes in algocenoses, the dynamics of chlorophyll in plankton and bottom sediments. Considerable attention is paid to the morphology and systematics of various groups of single-celled algae and aquatic vascular plants - critical analysis of diagnostic features, modern taxonomic interpretations, additions to regional floras, evolutionary aspect. The publication is designed for botanists, hydrobiologists, ecologists, specialists in the field of protection and use of water resources, as well as students of biological and environmental faculties .
