In. Scott wrote this short poem on fresh traces of events after a visit to the site of the Battle of Waterloo, which occurred on June 18, 1815. The Russian reader of Scott's poem can not but notice the intonation that brings together some of the best stanzas of "Waterloo Field" with "Borodin" Lermontov This feeling of obvious closeness makes the "Waterloo Field" for the Russian reader especially interesting - with the obvious superiority of "Borodin", this great, popular in its content of the work.
