Rough, uncouth village boy firmly decides to change for the sake of achieving his dream 3. In the novel “Oras” (1841), George Sand denounces the vice common in modern society self-love. The hero of the novel is the personification of bourgeois individualism. J. Sand, following the ideas of utopian socialism, sees marriage between representatives of the warring classes as a means of destroying classes.
