The first volume of the Collected Works of the greatest English writer Graham Greene (1904-1991) includes three novels: “England Made Me” (1935), “Brighton Lollipop” (1938) and “The Trustee” (1939). The novel “Brighton Lollipop” was published by Heinemann in 1938. Greene considered it one of his best books, although according to the memoirs of the writer, it was initially not a great success and the fee for it barely covered the debt to the publisher. In the novel, the author sets out an expensive idea for him about the moral and religious value of purely human love, even if the latter came into conflict with the orthodox idea of love for God. Graham Greene. Brighton Rock. 1938. Translated from English by Petrova E. N. and Teternikova A. N. Graham Greene . Collection of works in six volumes . Volume 1. Publishing house "Art Literature" . Moscow . 1992.
