Gerald Darrell (19251995) famous English zoologist and traveler, one of the cult figures of the twentieth century Darrell's books have long been the gold fund of world literature and are very popular with readers around the world. In the 50s of the last century, Darrell equipped expeditions to different parts of the world one by one. "Bafut's Hounds" is the story of the famous hunter's second trip to West Africa. The main difficulty of this trip, oddly enough, was not the search for wild animals in places untouched by civilization, but close communication with the outrageous ruler of Cameroon - Von Bafuta, a lover of daily entertainment, who saw a companion in Darrell. And yet the hardest and saddest part of every such journey, according to the zoologist, was its completion. After a few months of living side by side with the captured animals, they had to part with them. Realizing this, Darrell realized that the only way to solve the problem was to take and open his own zoo. About how one of the most famous nurseries to date was created, the author tells in the story “The Zoo in My Luggage” The publication contains illustrations by the famous British artist Ralph Thompson .
