The essays are devoted to the event-symbol, which determined the life and values of several subsequent generations. The book is the result of the collective work of Russian, Czech and Romanian historians, archivists, culturologists and literary scholars who tried to rethink the events of half a century ago and their lessons from the standpoint of today on new documents and materials.
