Klaus Sturtbecker is a legendary 14th century pirate, one of the leaders of the Vital Brothers (pirates of the Baltic and North Seas), who became a folk character as the prototype of Robin Hood. In 1909, the Russian Empire published a series of anonymous tabloid stories about the adventures of Klaus Stertebeker.
