The first generation usually refers to tanks created based on the experience of the Second World War: medium T-54, T-55, T-62, light PT-76, heavy IS-4 and T-10. However, these combat vehicles can be divided into two subgroups .. The tanks of the first subgroup differed from the combat vehicles of the war years, mainly with more powerful weapons and armor protection, a more rational layout of the nodes and the perfect shape of the hull and turret. When creating the machines of the second subgroup, a new important factor was already taken into account nuclear weapons.
