1st century B.C.. Defeated in a battle with a ruthless enemy on the edge of the known world, the surviving legionaries are captured by the Parthians. Abandoned by Rome, these people are the Forgotten Legion. Among them are three friends: Gallus Brennan, Etruscan prophet Tarquinius and Romulus, a fugitive slave and illegitimate son of the Roman patrician. United by a hatred of Rome and a dream of Freedom, they confront the wild tribes that surround them, as well as the much more insidious enemies in the ranks of the legion itself... Meanwhile, Fabiola, Romulus’ twin sister, with the hope that her brother is alive, is forced to fight in the name of her own salvation. Released by a powerful lover, but surrounded by enemies from all sides, she goes to Gaul, where her patron confronts ferocious local warriors.
