After Beya flees her home in the village of Chemestuk, burned to the ground in a civil war, she realizes that she has only one place she can go. Her niece Magier owns a small tavern in the port city of Miishka which is located, unfortunately, on a long journey, far on the west coast. And Bey in her life never traveled further than a few leagues from her hut . As always fearless, she decides to travel through her war-torn homeland with the fact that she was able to find the ashes of the village. But soon enough, she finds herself on an unfamiliar road and risks facing two dangers at once: deserters and soldiers who are now in the same desperate position. She has always been independent, but realizes that she may not survive this road alone ... until she accidentally encounters a very unusual young man.
