May 4, 2013 marked the 900th anniversary of the accession to the Kiev throne of Grand Duke Vladimir Vsevolodovich, who went down in history under the name of Vladimir Monomakh An outstanding general, an unsurpassed politician, a wise lawmaker - Vladimir Monomakh (1053-1125) also had a bright writing talent. Perhaps that is why his works have survived almost a thousand years - in all their wealth to present us with a picture of the life of our glorious ancestors. Formally, the reign of Vladimir Monomakh did not last long - only twelve years (1113-1125) But we know that for many years before the incarnation in Kiev Monomakh played a significant and often decisive role in the management of Kievan Rus’ both under his father, Grand Duke Vsevolod Yaroslavich (107893), and under his uncle Svyatopolk (109313) .. And after the death of Monomakh, his work was adequately continued by his eldest son Mstislav the Great (1125-1132). That is why half a century at the turn of the XI-XII centuries can rightly be called the era of Vladimir Monomakh. His rule became the highest point of the ancient Russian statehood .. Never before not under his outstanding grandfather Yaroslav the Wise, nor under his great-grandfather, the baptizer of Russia, St. Vladimir Svyatoslavich Kievan Rus did not achieve such a degree of unity and power. However, after the top, the descent always begins. “The foreshadowing of benefits comes genius and the oppression takes revenge for his departure,” said the poet .. With the departure of Vladimir Monomakh, the sun of Russian glory set: the era of feudal fragmentation began But the deeds of Vladimir Monomakh were not forgotten: his laws worked, his works served as a model for the best princes, and the instructions that he left in the Teaching to his sons taught perseverance, courage and truth to future generations of Russian people in times of trials and turmoil. Along with Yaroslav the Wise and Alexander Nevsky, Vladimir Monomakh is still revered as one of the greatest rulers in the history of Russia, and his rule is recognized as the highest point of ancient Russian statehood.
