On a dark night in March, the Sea Witch, sailing from the French port of Morle to England, miraculously avoids disaster: during a storm that broke out in the English Channel, she almost collides with the Mary Diar cargo ship. At dawn, the crew of the "Sea Witch" - the English John Sands, Mike Duncan and Hal Lawden - again notices "Mary Dear" near his yacht.
