In 1903, former cashier, apothecary and prisoner William Sidney Porter, who took the pseudonym O. Henry signed a contract with the New York World newspaper, according to which he had to give there every Sunday on a story for a fee of one hundred dollars. After more than 100 years, we publish one of his “hundred-dollar” stories, previously not published in Russia.
