Steve Albini, leader of the bands Big Black (1982–1987), Rapeman (1987–1988), Shellac (1992–present). Music producer (although he does not like this term and prefers to be called a sound engineer). At the beginning of his career (80s), Steve Albini played music in the provocative group Big Black. Later he moved to the sound engineer's desk and is now, perhaps, the best in this field. He has worked with such groups as Nirvana, Cheap Tric, PJ Harvey, The Jon Spenser Blues Explosion, The Ex, Nine Inch Nails, Tortoise, The Pixies, Will Oldham, Bush, Melt-Banana, etc.
< p>Published an essay in Maximum Rock'n'Roll #133 in 1993 entitled “The Problem with Music” / “The Contract of Your Dreams” in Russian translation) with a moral condemnation of the usual development of affairs in the music industry industry, showing with a clear example how the show business industry profits at the expense of musicians, paying them only a tiny part of the income from their products.
