Antiquary is a historical novel by Walter Scott, more successful than the previous two, published in 1816. The plot of the novel is built around an antiquarian - an archaeologist, an amateur historian and a collector of dubious antiquity of objects. But the antiquarian is not the main character of the book. Around the other heroes of the novel there are more important collisions of the plot. The author wrote about his first three novels: Waverly covers the era of our fathers, Guy Mannering is the time of our youth, Antiquary refers to the last decade of the eighteenth century. But the novel “Antiquary” was the most favorite novel of the famous author.
