Stanislaw Lem (born 1921) writer, Known in Poland primarily as the author of science fiction novels and short stories in which he seeks to create an image of the world of the distant future , the World of Great Technology , allowed man to make interplanetary travel even outside the solar system. The action of the first novel by Lem - "Astronauts" (1951) - unfolds in 2003 on Venus, the journey takes place on a spaceship. In Magellan's Cloud (1956), the writer describes an expedition to another star system, where astronauts meet with intelligent beings. In the novel "Edem" St. Lem tells about the attempt of people to solve the mysteries of another, unfamiliar to them, the life of intelligent beings on another planet. In addition to novels, Lem also published several collections of short stories ("Sesame", "Star Diaries", "Invasion from Aldebaran"), where, along with science fiction elements, you can find sharp social satire, a brilliant parody of bad modern science fiction literature. In the novel "Unlost time" St. Lem depicted the tragic events that took place during the occupation of Poland by fascist Germany.
