The story “Non-Intervention” (Del Rey, 1983) grew out of a piece of entourage and unprinted story Here in Herbig-Haro, the first story I sold to Stan Schmidt in Analog, a small detail seemed to me worthy of growing into a separate story. The result was “Roads We Don’t Choose” a classic story about the first contact, albeit in an unusual perspective.
