The dominance of services in the production structure of modern society can be explained on the basis of several concepts. Perhaps the most authoritative and well-known is the concept of “post-industrial society” by Daniel Bell, described in his book The Coming of Post'Industrial Society (1972). The outstanding thinker of our time, Manuel Castells, says this about this book - “this is one of the most prolific works of the last 50 years ... and the next 50 years.” In his work, Bell tries to show the development of society as a transition between three stages - pre-industrial, industrial and post-industrial society . Each stage is determined by one dominant type of production - respectively, agriculture, industry and services. In substantiating his theory, Daniel Bell cites data based on the United States, which show the growth of services in the production structure. It should also be noted that the author does not describe any real society, but creates an “analytical construct” - that is, what our society can be.
