To return to Russia, to return to Russia in poetry - this was the dream of the poet of the Russian diaspora, Mikhail Georgievich Chekhonin (1907, Petrozavodsk - 1962, New York). As a twelve-year-old boy, Mikhail left his home. Until the end of his days, the poet lived with thoughts about Russia. The word “hello” was filled with deep meaning in his poems: “hello-farewell and hello-bow.” For Chekhonin, the homeland is “the last hope and the last love”; separation from it is truly tragic. This edition includes: the only book by M.G. Chekhonin “Poems”, (1946, New York), as well as selected poems and prose published in emigrant periodicals (“New Journal”, “Renaissance”, etc.)
