Swedish humorist writer Rikard Fuchs was born in 1951. He is a doctor by profession and worked for many years at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, one of the most famous in Sweden and abroad. Fuchs began writing in 1975, when his first book “Of course you are sick!” was published. Then they wrote “No Prescription Needed” (1977), “A Band-Aid for Wounds” (1980), “Of course you can fly!” (1983). The stories offered to readers are taken from Fuchs’s book “Amazing Eccentrics” (1981). The heroes of Fuchs’s stories and humorous jokes are “eccentrics”: eccentric patients and eccentric doctors, these are eternal and at the same time modern types, arousing rather sympathy than laughter. Maybe medicine, to which Fuchs devoted so much time and effort, makes his smile healing?
