Two ordinary women Plush and Natalie live next door in a typical five-storey building on the edge of the field, where the Poles were shot in the late thirties. Among those shot is believed to have been Orthodox priest Thomas Golembowski, a Pole who converted to Orthodoxy, who is about to be canonized. Plusha, working in the city's museum of repression, deals with his manuscripts. These manuscripts, especially written by Father Thomas in the early thirties, "Children's Gospel" (in which only children act) constitute, as it were, the second "layer" of the novel. What is more in this novel fantasy or history everyone will decide for himself. But the novel is true to the truth of the artistic view, which alone remains after the Story.
