The anthology is the first, most complete edition of the theological and philosophical heritage of the Western Middle Ages undertaken in Russia, and includes translations of texts by medieval philosophers and theologians. The anthology reveals to the reader a wide panorama of the spiritual life of the European Middle Ages from apologetic and commentary texts to mystical treatises and covers the whole millennium (from the IV to the XIV century). Most of the texts of the anthology in Russian have been translated for the first time.
