This edition is an attempt to recreate the complex and controversial portrait of the Wallachian ruler Vlad Basarab, the image of which was inspired by the Irish writer Bram Stoker in the basis of his famous Dracula (1897). It is this consideration that dictates the composition of the book, which includes, along with a new translation of the novel, the chapter "Dracula's Guest", not included in the canonical text, as well as written testimonies of two contemporaries of the pathologically cruel Wallachian master. anonymous Russian author (presumably influential tsarist diplomat F. Chicken) and Austrian Minnesinger M. Beheim . Serious scientific apparatus - articles of well-known domestic philologists, detailed notes and fragments of fundamental work P. Florescu and R. McNally's "In Search of Dracula" distinguishes this original historical and literary project from purely commercial publications. The editors believe that the Russian reader will appreciate the new, performed by the doctor of philological Sciences T. Krasavchenko's translation of the legendary work, which the author himself, close to the circle of the Order of the Golden Dawn, by no means considered a classic "horror novel" - rather a complex system of occult symbols that conceal the inner meaning of the story of the sinister vampire.
