The book is the fourth and final volume of the Russian edition of Max Weber's "Economics and Society" .. It includes works devoted to the problems of power and domination. In the first section, the author introduces the concept of “dominance” and considers four historically manifested types of domination: patriarchal, patrimonial, bureaucratic and charismatic. The second section is called "The City"; it is a complete historical outline of the formation of the European city as a specific community, suggesting a special type of domination. The last, third section includes articles that give brief descriptions of the four types of domination mentioned above. Unlike previous volumes, which are mostly conceptual in nature, the fourth volume contains a wealth of historical material. Almost all the works included in it in Russian are published for the first time. The publication is intended for sociologists, political scientists, historians, other specialists of a wide range of social and human sciences, as well as for a circle of readers interested in the problems of social and cultural development of our time.
