Stanislav Lem explains in his article why he is “significantly less afraid of antimatter than the Internet.” At the dawn of the developing Internet, the thoughts expressed were more than prophetic. Lem is a great thinker, philosopher and futurologist. Everything that Lem warned about in the article is and is present in one form or another. Quote - “The Internet seems to me to be one of those phenomena of a purely technological nature, whose bright obverse is widely advertised and therefore better visible than its dark reverse.” And “I am very afraid that the main force that drives the Internet today is big capital . Investors expect big profits, hence the attempts to convince everyone that when they connect to the network, the happiest era of their lives will come." Could not have said it better. And another quote from Lem - "I recently had a Russian computer specialist and asked the question why I stopped writing science fiction? I stopped when I noticed that what I easily regarded as fantasy manifested itself in reality, of course, not in a form identical to the fruits of my imagination, but in a similar way to them. I decided that I needed to restrain myself, because I would come up with something that I wouldn’t like at all.”
