“Restless.” This was the name of the ancient Greek poet Archilochus, who lived almost 3000 years ago in Ancient Hellas. In ancient times he was put on a par with Homer and Hesiod. Incredible incidents happened to this restless poet-warrior, poet-satirist, who created the poetic meter - iambic, which became the most popular in Russian classical poetry. Remember: “My uncle has the most honest rules...” (A.S. Pushkin). Archilochus ridiculed cowardice and money-grubbing in his poems. He was an idol of youth, his poems were sung at holidays, meetings, and revels. The hymn he composed, dedicated to the god Hermes, was performed at the Olympic Games many centuries after his death, inspiring the participants in the Olympic competitions.
