The present collection of works by Karl Schmitt (1888–1985), the most controversial figure in European legal and political thought of the 20th century, includes selected fragments of the Doctrine of the Constitution, a fundamental work of the Weimar era. In addition to an article in which Schmitt polemicizes with pluralistic theories, speaking with the apology of a strong state, the collection also includes two works of the Nazi era, allowing a fuller presentation of the career and theoretical trajectory of the German thinker.
