XII century, High Middle Ages. The era of the Crusades, the rise of Christian kingdoms and knightly honor. A period of ardent faith and uncompromising struggle against heretics. The time of sinners and saints. In 1149, all of Ireland was shocked by the story of the frantic knight Tundal, who fell into a coma, but, by the grace of God, did not rest, but returned to life, having gone through the horrors of Hell, the suffering of Purgatory and the glory of Paradise.

The wanderings of the knight Tundal, accompanied by his Guardian Angel, were so popular in the Middle Ages that they served as the most important source of inspiration for Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy. The work was never translated into Russian in its entirety; moreover, the published fragments were taken from later revised versions variants of “Visions”.

The presented work is an artistic adaptation of the now accessible original of the 12th century. Careful attitude towards the original source, the desire to most deeply reveal the mystical medieval atmosphere, but at the same time present the reader with a modern reading of the ancient manuscript, became the main guideline of this work. It was these principles that called for following not so much the letter of the manuscript as the spirit of its revelation.
