Area of scientific interest — quantum field theory, group theory, quantum gravity, quantum mechanics, quantum measurement theory. Quantum mechanics, perhaps the most surprising branch of physics, is discussed in this book from a variety of perspectives. Part I presents the history of the creation of quantum mechanics and its main ideas, born in the process of difficult overcoming the usual classical picture of the world. Some important examples (superconductivity and superfluidity, lasers, nanotechnology, quantum computer science) illustrate the applications of quantum mechanics in modern technology. Part 11 is devoted to the still unsolved conceptual issues (paradoxes) of quantum mechanics. It shows how an attempt to solve them leads to a picture of parallel worlds (the so-called interpretation of Everett), and its logical continuation - to a new understanding of the phenomenon of consciousness and to explain its unusual possibilities, which at first glance contradict the laws of physics.
