Urartu is not only the oldest of the states that were completely or partially on the current territory of the USSR. The culture of the Soviet peoples of Transcaucasia stands in direct continuity with the culture of Urartu , if by this term we mean in the broadest sense the culture of a diverse population , Participated in the creation of the Urartian state, its irrigated structures, his architecture and art. In addition, as shown by the works of Soviet historians of antiquity, Urartu is a mediating link between the great cultures of the ancient East and the cultures of the Caucasus and the Black Sea region. Therefore, it is quite natural that Urartian history attracts special attention of Soviet historians.
