This poem, combined with another small poem with a similar name, seems to refer to Pushkin’s Desert Fathers and Immaculate Wives..., although it does not talk about fathers and virgins at all and is not even remotely mentioned about them. And in fact, in the Hermits (and also in the Hermit, although in the singular) it is not told about holy hermits, but about chthonic spirits of the earth living underground, not knowing heaven, nor light, nor open space. https:// traumlibrary.ru
