Popov Alexander Nikolaevich (1820-1877) studied at Moscow University, served in the II department of the Tsar's own office, corresponding member of the Academy in the category of historical sciences . All his works concern diplomatic relations of Russia with foreign powers: with Poland (the Embassy of Tyapkin in Poland in 1673-1676 . France (Embassy of Potemkin 1668 .) ), the papal throne from 1845 to 1850. , with Khiva and Bukhara; he also wrote the work "Diplomatic Secret Writing in Ancient Russia" ("Zap. Arch. General. ",1853. T. V). Work of his "Russian Embassy in Poland in 1673-1677" (SPb.) 1854) is devoted to the activities of our first permanent diplomatic representative, Stolnik Vasily Mikhailovich Tyapkin, who stayed at the Polish court for five years.
