These characters have been brought together repeatedly on the pages of research papers, on the body and on movie screens. And that’s why – “one more time.” Once again - on screen pages. Sigmund Freud and Sherlock Holmes, despite the fictional nature of one and the real nature of the other, are doomed to a mythological existence, doomed to a life of referential attractors, to endless repetition and assimilation, doomed to rapprochement. Immortality is ensured by the obsessive nature of the repeated “once again”: this is how Sherlock Holmes is resurrected ten years later on the pages after a mortal fight with Professor Moriarty, this is how Sigmund Freud is resurrected under the pen of more and more biographers. It is not surprising in this regard that the analytical philosophy of fiction chooses Sherlock Holmes as an example of virtual existence: Holmes, if he did not exist, could have existed under other circumstances. Holmes lives in the virtual worlds of readers. Holmes comes to life whenever his friend Watson testifies: the great detective is ignorant of philosophy, astronomy and politics, knows something of botany, is well versed in geology and chemistry, excellent in criminal and judicial chronicles, he is “a violinist, a boxer, fencer, lawyer, heavy cocaine addict and smoker.”
