Academia is a book publishing house of the St. Petersburg Philosophical Society at the University, which existed in 1921-1937 in the RSFSR, then the USSR. It is known for very high-quality editions and illustrations of classical literature .. Many well-known translators and artists have collaborated with the publishing house. The first book of this publishing house was "The Religion of Hellenism" F. F. Zelinsky (1922) . In 1927, the series “Treasures of World Literature” began to be published. Released "Decameron" Boccaccio, "Gulliver's Travels" and the first volume of "A Thousand and One Nights" 38 series and over 1000 editions were produced, most of which have a relatively small circulation. Today, Academia publications have great bookish and antique value. The catalogue of Academia editions issued for the World Exhibition in Paris contains only the books exhibited at the exhibition (in the amount of 174 titles). However, all sections of the literature produced by Academia are reflected here, and according to them the reader can judge the nature of the book products of the publisher. The catalog is provided with reproductions with illustrations and book decorations for individual editions . These reproductions give a general idea of the artistic face of "Academia", but still far from reflecting the variety of graphics of Soviet artists working for the publishing house.
